Understanding Ankle Foot Orthosis

Ankle Foot Orthosis, otherwise called as AFO is an orthotic device which is intended to correct or handle the problems related to the ankle and foot. For it to be an effective device, an AFO should be properly fitted to the patient. An AFO shouldn't necessarily be customized but should be adjusted well by a physician to determine that it fits well and is comfortable to the patient. A big inclination when the patient is not comfortable with the AFO or doesn't fit well, he or she might not use the device.

AFO braces are among the most widespread types of orthotic devices. This device is utilized for different cases and is created in various styles. The design of this device may be hard plastic together with adjustable soft straps wherein the device holds the ankle and the foot in place. The straps at the same time permit some freedom for the patient to move.

This device may be worn to correct a deformity or perhaps to address certain problems with the foot and ankle like muscle contractures, muscle weakness, loss of muscle control, as well as muscle wasting. A foot brace also stabilizes the ankle and foot in place but still gives enough space for the patient to move.

An Ankle Foot Orthosis may also be worn whenever a patient needs corrective bracing for a certain period during recovery in an injury. Other conditions that AFO can be used are sprained ankles, tendonitis, foot drop, flat feet, unstable ankles and other similar conditions. This may as well be used after surgery to help support the affected area.

It is very crucial that patients consult with their physicians to fit an AFO brace appropriately. Especially during the initial consultation, patients must be open with the different problems they are going through with this device. If there are any problems, they should immediately get in touch with their physician so adjustments can be made. Ankle Foot Orthosis will not cause pain, but instead they were created to help you get through the problems of your foot and ankle.

Ankle strap ballet flats?

I've been looking all over online for an inexpensive pair. I found one for $50, but would love something cheaper than that since I really don't need them but I love the look. Looking for black, must have an ankle strap, and a closed toe. Also--has to be a flat shoe--no heel. I'll remember your 10 points and pick a best answer to whoever has better luck searching....
