All About Slings And Loose Gear

1. Grade 8 Alloy Chain Slings

Grade 8 Alloy Chain Slings are available in lengths of 3m, 6m and 9m for hire but can be purchased at longer lengths. These multi-leg slings are fitted with grab hook shorteners so as to allow for shortening of leg length and to facilitate the handling of uneven loads. Multi-leg slings have a capacity rating from 0 to 90 degree angles.

1. Special Purpose Chain Slings

Pipe lifting and Jointing Slings provide a unique system that significantly improves spped and efficiency when pipe off-loading, handling and jointing. This system uses a specially designed three leg chain set equipped with universal lifting eyes that connect to anchors for the purpose of lifting and jointing operations.

Universal lifting Eyes are used in conjunction with the lifting and jointing sling allowing for a safe and secure horizontal lift. This increases pipe handling and laying speed and efficiency and cannot disengage under a heavy load.

Drum lifters are used to lift large drums, for example fuel drums. They are simple to operate with spring loaded grab units which allow single handed fitting. These slings fit both open and closed top drums.

Skip lifters can securely lift skips utilising standard lifting lugs.

Wheel barrow Lifting Slings are specially designed three leg chain slings that enable safe lifting of the wheelbarrow and its contents.

1. Wire Rope Slings

Steel wire ropes and slings suit the vast majority of job requirements. There are several different types including standard strops and slings, crane ropes and winch ropes. Wire ropes and slings are also available in bespoke configurations.

Slings generally come in six standard lengths – 2m, 2.5m, 3m, 3.5m, 4.5m and 6m. Large diameters and lengths along with multi-slings are usually available from reputable suppliers.

1. Endless Roundslings

Endless roundslings are available with up to 100 tonnes of capacity. They consist of a polyester hank which is by a polyester tubular sleeve, which protects and consolidates the polyester core.

Roundslings are measured in terms of their capacity and effective working length. They feature a high strength to weight ratio, a wide choice of lifting modes and can lift smooth objects without causing damage. They also feature anti-cut abrasion protection, are useable at a range of temperatures and are colour coded to indicate capacity.

1. Flat belt Webbing Slings

Flat web slings have up to 30ft lifting capacity and are made from a single length of polyester webbing.

I recently bought a pair of sling back shoes that keep slipping off!!

Are there any products on the market that can stop this from happening?!

Make sure your heel strap isn't slipping off due to your foot sliding forward in the shoe - add a ball-of-foot insert to avoid slippage. Also, try a little padded strip on the inside of the heel strap. Foot Petals makes a product called Strappy Strips that help me with this.
