How do you make a clock run fast?

I have a few quartz crystal clocks that I have to modify for a project. One of them I needed to have run backwards. I did that by flipping around the copper coil inside the clock.

Now I need to have the clock run double speed or more. It needs to be fast. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do that. Any help appreciated. Project due tomorrow. Thanks

These have a crystal oscillator (probably 3.58 MHz) driving a chain of dividers that outputs 1 Hz, which drives a stepping motor.

you can change the crystal to one twice the frequency, that may work, or you can change the divider string. However these are inside of a IC and you may not have access to the connections needed. If there is a part number on the IC, see if you can find the datasheet.
