You have met someone that you are compatible with. You have been dating for a while and seem to be completely committed to each other. Now where do you go from here? Resentment is the quickest way to end a dating relationship. If one of you is resenting wasting your time dating, this will drive a wedge in the relationship. An equally destructive force is for one of you to feel like you are being pressured into taking the next step. This is why communication is the key to successful relationships. You need be honest and up front with the other person to avoid resentment or unforgiveness to settle in.

It is important that you know where you stand in your dating relationship. As soon as you feel that you have moved into that committed zone, talk about it. Find out where both of you stand on commitment and dating and especially marriage. The sooner that you know each others ideals and phobias about dating relationships, the sooner you can reach them or overcome them. Don’t leave this subject alone only to be approached when it is too late.

Remember there is nothing wrong with dating with a long-term commitment. The only thing that is important is that both people are happy with the dating relationships. It does not matter what the title is or what other people think is appropriate. The only thing that is important is how the people in the dating relationship feel. If the relationship is happy and healthy, then you are doing the right thing and you should keep it going.
